Aegon Asset Management has appointed a former investment consultant as a non-executive director to its UK board.
Mary Kerrigan advised international institutional investors as a former partner and senior investment consultant at Willis Towers Watson and now takes up an oversight and scrutiny role at Aegon AM.
The appointment comes at a time when UK fund management is placing more emphasis on independent directors to enhance governance, especially under the UK regulator’s Assessment of Value regime that aims to make investment funds provide better value for investors.
Aegon AM’s other four board members are David Watson, Bas NieuweWeme, Stephen Jones and Jane Daniel.
Among other similar roles, Kerrigan is currently a non-exec at Just Retirement & Partnership Life Assurance, and a member of the independent governance committee at Prudential Assurance Company UK.
Kerrigan replaces Arnab Banerji, as he completes nine years as a non-executive board member.
Aegon’s UK asset management business, Kames Capital, has been rebranded recently as Aegon Asset Management.
