BNP Paribas Asset Management has adopted ESG indices on two of its thematic exchange-traded funds (ETFs) – global infrastructure and European small cap.
According to the French firm, its global infrastructure equity Ucits ETF is the first ETF of its kind to incorporate ESG criteria.
The strategy, named BNP Paribas Easy ECPI Global Infrastructure Equity Ucits ETF, selects companies with market capitalisation of more than €500 million and categorises them into one of six themes: communication, energy, transport, waste management, water and social infrastructure.
The other ETF, the BNP Paribas Easy MSCI Europe Small Caps SRI S-Series 5% Capped Ucits ETF, is also “the first small-cap ETF to adopt an ESG approach”, according to the firm. The ETF tracks the performance of approximately 200 small caps selected according to MSCI’s SRI methodology.
Isabelle Bourcier, BNPP AM’s head of quantitative and index management, said: “Our clients increasingly want to integrate a responsible approach into their savings, which is how we are adapting our range.”
