London-based wealth manager St James’s Place has appointed Somerset Capital, the emerging markets fund house co-founded by arch-Brexiteer and leader of the House of Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg, to manage SJP’s global emerging markets fund.
The £943 million (€1112 million) fund was previously managed by Janus Henderson.
The lead manager of the fund will be Edward Robertson, another of the co-founders of Somerset Capital Management.
Tom Beal, SJP chief investment officer, said: “The appointment follows an extensive search by our investment committee and demonstrates our continued commitment to selecting the best fund managers from across the globe.
“The focus during this process was on selecting a manager who can identify potential opportunities for high returns on capital irrespective of the market environment.”
