M&G appoints fund manager

London-based asset-manager M&G has appointed Rory Alexander as fund manager of its UK select fund, with immediate effect.

Alexander has been co-deputy manager of the M&G UK Select Fund since January 2016, as well as manager of the M&G Pooled Pensions UK Equity Fund, and deputy manager of the M&G Smaller Companies Fund.

He takes over from Sam Ford, who is leaving the business for a new opportunity in Edinburgh.

Anton Oliver, head of M&G equities termed the appointment as an opportunity to “promote young talent” whilst thanking Ford for his five years at the helm of the fund.

The aim of the fund as well as the investment approach and management style will remain unchanged, according to the firm.
