BlackRock launches global bond income fund

US investment giant BlackRock has launched a global bond income fund which aims to “leverage the firm’s global fixed income capabilities to identify attractive income opportunities”.

The fund forms part of BlackRock’s multi-sector fixed income platform, which includes aggregate, government, corporate and flexible bond strategies.

Managed by Rick Rieder, BlackRock’s chief investment officer of global fixed income, the fund will leverage the breadth and scale of BlackRock’s US$1.9 trillion (€1.7 trillion) global fixed income platform.

A statement released by BlackRock said that the fund would invest across the entire global fixed income universe, including difficult to access asset classes, countries and securities.

Rieder said: “In an environment of low interest rates, investors have to work harder in their search for income.

“Applying a flexible, go any-where approach to fixed income provides investors with access to a wider and more diverse set of investment opportunities.”
