Edinburgh-based equity specialist Martin Currie has appointed Paul Sloane as a portfolio manager to its global emerging markets team.
Sloane previously worked at Martin Currie for 14 years, most recently as co-manager of the firm’s global alpha strategy.
When he rejoins the firm next month – following a one-year career break during which he carried out consultancy and charity work – he will take on coverage of the financials sector.
Sloane originally joined Martin Currie in 2003 from Deutsche Bank, where he was responsible for specialist sales in the pan-European insurance sector.
The appointment follows four key strategic hires at the firm since the turn of the year, including the appointment of Zehrid Osmani from Blackrock as head of the global long-term unconstrained team and Julian Ide as head of distribution and strategy.
Martin Currie operates as an affiliate of Legg Mason having been bought by the US fund manager in 2014 for an undisclosed sum.
