VanEck appoints European head

US asset manager VanEck has appointed Martijn Rozemuller to head up its business in Europe.

Rozemuller was previously managing director of Dutch ETF provider Think ETFs, which was acquired by VanEck at the beginning of the year.

In the newly-created role Rozemuller, who will be based in Amsterdam, will form part of VanEck’s two-man European board of operations together with his colleague and Think co-founder Gijs Koning. He will report directly to VanEck’s New York-based chief executive Jan van Eck.

The acquisition of Think ETFs has increased VanEck’s assets under management in Ucits funds to US$ 2.6 billion (€2.2 billion).

The transaction also means that VanEck now has a third European office, in Amsterdam, to add to its offices in Frankfurt and Pfäffikon, in Switzerland.

VanEck currently manages assets totalling around US$ 45 billion and is among the ten largest ETF providers in the USA.
