The ongoing Brexit negotiations are not having a significant impact on fundraising and investment for UK and European managers, a fund administrator claims.
Augentius found that of the ‘general partners’ it surveyed, 42% of those in the UK and Europe said Brexit negotiations were having “no real effect”.
The figure for Asian respondents was 55% and for the US, 70%.
However, 39% of UK and Europe general partners did say the negotiations had made fundraising harder.
But encouragingly, 90% of ‘limited partners’ – the investors – said Brexit had had no impact on investment in UK funds.
Ian Kelly, group CEO of Augentius, said the general uncertainty around Brexit negotiations may be creating a “wait and see” attitude before any big decisions are made.
The firm said in its ‘Augentius 2018 Annual Survey’: “Similarly, Brexit is yet to have a huge effect on investor sentiment and behaviour – in particular, the UK seems little affected as a destination for investment.”
More than 100 managers and investors from across the globe were surveyed.
A recent investor sentiment index from State Street showed sentiment towards the UK among institutions had fallen.
