Michelle Seitz named chief executive of Russell Investments

Michelle Seitz has been named chief executive officer and a director of global asset manager Russell Investments.

Seitz takes up her position as CEO on January 1, 2018 and will be based in the firm’s headquarters in Seattle.

Seitz, who has over 30 years of asset management experience, joins Russell Investments following 16 years leading William Blair Investment Management (WBIM) and serving on the firm’s executive committee.

Under Seitz WBIM’s assets under management went from $2.3 billion (€1.9 billion) to $65 billion, said Russell Investments.

She succeeds Len Brennan who will serve as chairman of Russell Investments to the end of 2017, after which time Brennan will become a strategic adviser to the firm.

It is the latest in a string of high profile hires by Russell Investments, which poached Julian Brown and Joe Linhares from BlackRock in Spring 2017.
