HSBC appoints global head of data and digital

HSBC has appointed Paul Clark to the newly created role of global head of data and digital at HSBC Securities Services (HSS). He will start the role on January 1, 2017.

Based in London, he will report to John Van Verre, global head of custody at HSS.

Clark’s role combines the existing activities of the head of eCommerce, with new initiatives in the data and digital space.

Clark will represent HSS and liaise with his peers in group data and digital initiatives.

He will also be responsible for the data and digital strategy in HSS, working with key stakeholders and additionally managing the eCommerce product function.

Clark has worked at HSS for 12 years in a variety of roles, including leading the HSS middle-office programme throughout its five-year implementation.

He is currently the portfolio director responsible for the middle-office, custody, treasury and eCommerce product set.

Prior to joining HSBC, Clark held various business change related roles in organisations such as National Australia Bank in Melbourne, and Gartmore Fund Managers in London.
