Franklin Templeton launches liquid alternatives fund

Franklin Templeton Investments is to launch a liquid alternatives product that will be managed by the firms hedge fund solutions business using external managers.

FTIF Franklin K2 Global Macro Opportunities Fund will be launched on November 25 and domiciled in Luxembourg.

This fund will aim to make a total return over a market cycle by allocating assets across global macro-oriented alternative strategies.

Brooks Ritchey and Rob Christian, both senior managers at K2 Advisers, will manage the fund. K2 Advisers is a hedge fund solutions provider acquired by Franklin Templeton in 2012.

The fund is a multi-manager product and the initial set of sub-advisers will include Aspect Capital,, Emso Asset Management and Graham Capital Management.

According to the firm, global macro hedge strategies generally have a highly flexible mandate and can invest long or short in equities, bonds, interest rates, currencies and commodities indices.
