Unilever’s Mark Walker joins 300 Club think-tank

Mark Walker, chief investment officer of Univest, Unilever pension scheme’s own investment manager, has been made a member of the 300 Club.

The 300 Club is an independent group of investment professionals who focus on improvements in the asset management industry and Walker said he would tackle sustainability and value creation.

“I am looking forward to this opportunity to work with the 300 Club to confront the industry’s mindset on issues such as sustainability and long-term value creation,” said Walker.

At Univest, Walker is responsible for overseeing the investment of the majority of Unilever’s pension plans. Prior to Unilever, he was a partner at consultancy Mercer and head of the London Investment Consulting Unit. He has over 20 years of experience in actuarial, pensions and investments.

The 300 Club chairman is Lars Dijkstra, the chief investment officer of Dutch asset manager Kempen Capital Management. A recent Funds Europe interview with Dijkstra can be read here.

Dijkstra said: “Unilever’s corporate vision of sustainable growth and intense sense of social purpose means that their pension schemes are some of the more innovative.”
