Invesco Perpetual has scooped Sebastian Mackay from Standard Life Investments, as a fund manager in David Millar’s ten-strong multi-asset team.
Mackay joined SLI in 2011, where he served as investment director and portfolio manager on its absolute return global bond strategy, as well as a member of the global absolute return strategy portfolio construction team. Prior, he spent 11 years at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, where he collaborated with Millar for a number of years.
Commenting on the appointment, Millar said he was looking forward to working with Sebastian again, and his first-hand experience of Mackay’s fund management and macro analysis capabilities were a clincher in the recruitment process.
Mackay’s appointment is the latest in a series of high profile scoops for the Invesco group. In March, Invesco appointed Henning Stein as head of institutional marketing for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, and the firm’s Powershares division poached Jim Goldie from Vanguard Asset Management. In February, influential fund selector Mark Dampier, head of investment research at UK financial adviser Hargreaves Lansdown, was appointed to the board of the £195 million (€250 million) Invesco Income Growth trust.
Globally, Invesco Group manages assets of around $737.5 billion (€648 billion).
