Towers Watson bolsters global hedge fund capabilities

Towers Watson, a pensions and investment consultant, has hired a hedge fund specialist in London as the firm moves to build up its manager research of the hedge fund sector globally.

Abbas Alighanbari joins from International Asset Management and will initially research long/short equity strategies.

At IAM he researched a broad range of hedge fund strategies and assisted in client portfolio management.

Towers has also appointed Aongus O’Gorman, formerly of Round Tower Solutions, and Victoria Vodolazschi, formerly of PivotalPath, to work as hedge fund researchers in Sydney and New York, respectively.

“Our new colleagues have significant prior experience and will help us expand our capabilities in finding alpha and getting access to the skill premium across a broad range of strategies,” says Luba Nikulina, global head of manager research at Towers Watson.
