Voting levels among institutional investors rise

Strategy and objectives, together with board remuneration, were the most frequently addressed issues by institutional investors, the Investment Management Association (IMA) says, with their

collective engagement helping meet aligned objectives.

In its latest report on adherence to the Financial Reporting Council’s (FRC) Stewardship Code, the UK trade body says institutional investors give priority to issues surrounding corporate strategy and objectives when engaging with investee companies.

Voting levels increase in all markets in last year. This suggests that overseas markets are becoming more accessible.

The overall headcount of those involved with stewardship continues to rise, the report says, highlighting that there is “a consistent proportion of respondents demonstrating that stewardship is integrated into the investment process”.
