Switzerland’s Gottex partners with Astmax in Japan

Switzerland’s Gottex Fund Management and Tokyo-based Astmax Asset Management are joining forces to provide hedge fund and multi-asset investments to Japanese investors.

Gottex, a fund of hedge fund manager, has entered into an agreement with Astmax to sub-advise institutions and other types of clients together.

The services will include customised hedge fund investment solutions, active liquid multi-asset products, hedge fund advisory services, managed accounts and specific products for Japanese institutional investors.

Gottex and Astmax will mutually distribute products using Gottex’s global network and Astmax’s Japanese distribution capability.

The deal is the latest for Gottex, which has been expanding its international business.

In March it announced the purchase of a majority interest in the UK’s Frontier Investment Management – an alternative asset manager with $550 million (€417.7 million) of assets under management.

Last year Gottex bought Hong Kong-based Penjing Asset Management, which then managed $434 million.
