BlackRock “first” to consolidate ETF liquidity data

BlackRock has consolidated the trading data for its various European exchange-traded funds (ETFs) under its iShares brand so investors can gain information about products sold on multiple exchanges quicker.

The firm created the “consolidated view” with Bloomberg, saying it was the industry’ first in Europe.

A consolidated view is designed to let investors more easily see the best bid/offer prices and where liquidity exists.

For example, investors wanting the data for the iShares FTSE 100 ETF would have to look up five different ticker symbols reflecting the exchanges where the product is traded. Now they have to look up one.

Over the entire iShares product range, investors can now use 517 tickers to view volumes that were previously spread over 1385 tickers.
