Schroders unveils European total return fund

Schroders plans to launch a European total return fund that aims for long-term capital growth while using derivatives and other instruments to lower volatility.

The Schroder ISF European Total Return fund is scheduled for launch on March 7 and will be managed by Nicholette MacDonald-Brown, senior portfolio manager on the European equities team.

MacDonald-Brown will select between 40 and 60 stocks for her portfolio; she will tactically use cash, futures and derivatives to adjust exposure to the market.

“Over the cycle we are looking to deliver returns in excess of the broader European market whilst targeting a degree of protection against significant short-term fluctuations in markets,” she said.
