Mirae targets ETFs at Asian sectors

Mirae Asset Global Investments is launching seven exchange-traded funds (ETFs) targeting sectors and trends in the Asian market. The vehicles are part of the Mirae Tiger ETF Series, which is intended to give passive investors a range of tools for accessing Asia.

There are five sector-specific funds, which target the financials, IT, industrials, energy and materials sectors across ten Asian countries, excluding Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

The firm is also launching an ETF that tracks the S&P Emerging Asia Consumer Index and one that tracks the S&P Global Consumer Enterprises Index.

The Mirae Tiger ETF Series already contains one fund that tracks the Korean stock exchange, meaning the series now has a total of eight funds in it.

“Our goal in launching these ETFs is to give investors a full set of options in expressing their individual investment outlook and risk appetite to capture opportunities in Asia and the global consumer market,” said Roger Liu, head of Mirae’s ETF division.
