Somerset launches frontier fund

Somerset Capital Management has launched a specialist small and mid cap fund investing in frontier markets.

Seeded with $30 million (€22.7 million), the Somerset Emerging Markets Small Mid Cap EM All Country fund launches this week.

“The strategy comprises our best research ideas across all our portfolios with market caps between $1 billion and $7.5 billion,” the asset manager says. “This includes some of the smaller, frontier markets such as Kenya and Slovenia.”

Edward Robertson and Timothy Hay are the lead managers of the new fund.

According to the fund fact sheet of the model portfolio, its three largest country allocations are Taiwan, China and South Africa. On a sector level, industrials, financials and information technology are the largest allocations.
