GLG Partners plans sustainability products

Fund manager GLG Partners, which is owned by the major alternative investment company Man Group, has launched a sustainability equity fund and claims that sustainability is set to be “one of the largest areas of global capital investment over the coming decades”.

The GLG Global Sustainability Equity Fund, a Ucits-compliant product, concentrates on themes, their corresponding sectors and companies that are best poised to take advantage of the long-term sustainability trend amid demographic, social and environmental change.

The sectors include healthcare, education services, waste and water management, as well as agricultural, transportation, alternative energy, industrial, resource and infrastructure-related efficiencies.

Pierre Lagrange, co-founder of GLG, said the fund has generated significant outperformance amongst general long-only equities strategies and that “we hope in time to also develop alternative products that address sustainability”.
