China will support commodity prices despite slowdown

Fears that support for commodity prices from China is waning as the pace of the country’s infrastructure development in its cities slows are unfounded, according to Moonraker Fund Management.

Moonraker believes the commodity story will continue in China as the country now switches its infrastructure development from the major cities of the Eastern seaboard to rural areas, where there is an extensive need to modernise villages and towns, schools, amenities and connecting road and rail links. As a result, Moonraker CIO Jeremy Charlesworth is maintaining exposure in the Moonraker Commodities Fund to hedge funds that have exposure to the China story.
