Pensions and investment consultant, Towers Watson, has appointed Gill Barr and Mervyn Walker to the board of its UK defined contribution master trust, LifeSight, which is an independently governed pension trust.
Walker is the independent trustee chair for the UK pension schemes of Ames Foster Wheeler, a consultancy, engineering and project management company. He is also a non-executive director at HMRC, the UK tax office, where he chairs the people, nominations & governance committee.
He has previously worked as a human resources director at three FTSE 100 companies, including British Airways, where he chaired trustee boards of the company’s defined benefit plans.
Barr is a marketing director who has held senior positions at John Lewis, MasterCard and Kingfisher. Most recently she was group marketing director for The Co-operative Group. She also has non-executive director experience with construction services business, Morgan Sindall, and UK Breast Cancer Coalition. Barr was also recently been appointed as a non-executive director at FTSE 250 company, PayPoint.

These appointments follow the announcement in February that Sharmila Nebhrajani, OBE, and Russell Picot had joined the board.
