Swiss asset manager Pictet has launched a global absolute return fixed income fund designed to act free of benchmark constraints.
The fund, formally named the Pictet-Absolute Return Fixed Income Fund, will be domiciled in Luxembourg and managed by co-head of global and regional bonds Andres Sanchez Balcazar. It will be Ucits-compliant and available in dollar, euro and swiss franc share classes.
Pictet hopes that the flexible and benchmark-free approach will target positive returns while protecting the fund against rising rates. Furthermore the fund will look to invest across all fixed income sectors in both developed and emerging markets.
‘After three decades of falling interest rates, bond investors would do well to look at an approach to bond investing that is not tied to a fixed income benchmark and can invest globally across all sectors,’ said Sanchez Balcazar on the launch.
