Candriam creates chief strategy officer role

Brussels-based Candriam Investors Group has appointed Elias Farhat as chief strategy officer, a newly created position.

The firm, part of New York Life Investment Management, said that Farhat will be responsible for managing external growth opportunities. He will also be a member of Candriam’s decision-making committees.

Farhat began his career at management consultancy Bain & Company in Paris and remained with the firm for 12 years. In 2002, he founded his own advisory company Velocity Advisors, to assist investors on their acquisitions, first in Dallas, then in New York.

He was also a partner at Capital E Advisors, an asset management firm with investments in thematic private equity. In addition, Elias held various board and advisory positions in several companies.

Candriam has assets of €100.1 billion and is run by Naïm Abou-Jaoudé, chief executive officer of the firm and also chairman of New York Life Investment Management International.
