Aon hires Lucy Barron for new de-risking role

Lucy Barron, formerly a specialist in portfolio de-risking at Axa Investment Management, has joined Aon Hewitt, an actuarial and investment consultancy, in a newly created role with a similar focus.

Barron, who also becomes a partner at Aon Hewitt in London and is an actuary by background, was head of solutions management at Axa IM.

Her role covered liability-driven investment (LDI), where pension schemes seek to de-risk portfolios and secure the payment of future liabilities.

Barron has worked in LDI roles at Legal & General and Insight Investment, and she began her career at Mercer, another actuarial firm.

Tim Giles, head of UK investment consulting at Aon Hewitt, said there was rising demand for the design, implementation and monitoring of de-risking investment strategies.

Barron said the need for investment risk solutions was becoming “ever more attractive” as more schemes faced becoming cash-flow negative.
