The former head of Pictet Asset Management, Udo von Werne, has joined Tokyo-based Nikko Asset Management as chief executive officer (CEO) for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Von Werne was continental European head of institutional clients for Pictet and previously worked for Zurich Financial Services and UBS.
He will report directly to Takumi Shibata, president and CEO at Nikko Asset Management in Japan.
Nikko embarked on expansion in Emea in 2015.
The firm recently hired former BlackRock emerging market debt manager Raphael Marechal to work within the global fixed income team. In July 2015 the firm also bolstered its Ucits range with a global equities fund and a multi-asset fund, managed by William Low and Al Clark, respectively.
