Franklin Templeton Investments has made its Franklin K2 Alternative Strategies Fund available for international investors.
The Luxembourg-registered multi-manager, multi-strategy Sicav will follow the same strategy as the US-registered fund with the same name.
The fund aims for lower correlations to traditional asset classes, reduced portfolio volatility and attractive risk-adjusted returns, while offering daily liquidity.
US asset manager Franklin Templeton Investments bought hedge fund solutions provider K2 Advisors in 2012. Based in Stamford, Connecticut, K2 Advisors offers multiple hedge fund strategies to institutional and high-net-worth investors.
David Saunders, co-founding managing director of K2 Advisors, Brooks Ritchey and Rob Christian, both senior managing directors, are co-managing the fund.
They will allocate across multiple managers and alternative strategies, including event-driven, global macro, long/short equity and relative value.
Initially, the sub-advisors of the fund will be Basso Capital Management, Chatham Asset Management, Chilton Investment Company, Graham Capital Management, Impala Asset Management, Independence Capital Asset Partners, Jennison Associates, Lazard Asset Management, Loomis Sayles & Company, P. Schoenfeld Asset Management and Wellington Management Company.
