SIBOS 2011: Sibos gathers in Canada

This year’s Sibos, taking place from 19-23 September in Toronto, promises in-depth debate on all the key issues facing the industry, as well as unrivalled networking opportunities, says Marco Attilio, head of funds marketing at Swift.

Every year, Swift’s Sibos conference brings together influential leaders from investment and securities firms, asset servicers, market infrastructures and technology partners to do business and shape the future of the industry. Facilitated and organised by Swift, Sibos is a unique forum in which to collaborate and take collective action to address common problems.

During recent years the importance of Sibos in the calendar of the global investment and securities industry has grown and grown. Now, Sibos is recognised as a premier venue in which to advance critical dialogue among industry participants – to debate the biggest issues the investment business is facing, and to network with key counterparties, customers and service and technology providers.

Recent months have been momentous for funds players seeking to improve their operational efficiency by leveraging industry standard solutions. The latest results of ongoing research into funds standardisation and automation by Swift and the European Fund and Asset Management Association (Efama) show that the total automation rate of fund orders topped 75% in Q4 2010, while the adoption rate for ISO messaging increased by a further 3% compared to the same period in 2009.

And Swift has taken another important step to reinforce the already powerful benefits of Swift-based automation for funds processing by introducing significant price reductions for the ISO 20022-based MX fund messages. As a result of the new pricing plan, the cost of the ISO 20022 MX mutual funds messages falls by, on average, 30%.

Udo Braun, divisional board member, group markets operations, at Commerzbank AG, comments: “The ISO 20022 fund MXs are the way forward for fund processing automation, but building a business case for rapid adoption and full migration is sometimes a challenge. This move by Swift helps to incentivise migration.”

This year’s Sibos programme ensures that the event will be another significant milestone in an already important year. It covers all the top priority topics you want to hear about: some of the highlights are outlined below, along with details of just a few of the high-calibre speakers lined up to participate. There will also be ample opportunities to hear the latest on Swift’s solutions, including detailed information on ISO 20022 and how to take advantage of this new standard in your business.

And, of course, you can spend time with the Swift team to discuss your specific requirements in the area of funds automation. Simply email [email protected] to arrange a meeting.
