Vontobel launches two emerging market bond funds

European investment manager Vontobel has launched two emerging market debt funds in response to increased investor interest, the firm said.

The sentiment towards emerging markets saw improvement, and there was a significantly increased interest in the asset class in the first few weeks of this year, said Wouter Van Overfelt, head of emerging market corporates at Vontobel.

One of the two funds (Vontobel Fund – Emerging Markets Investment Grade) aims to provide clients with access to fixed income through a lower-risk version of Vontobel’s existing hard currency funds, said Overfelt.

The other fund (Vontobel Fund – Asian Bond) is Asia-focused and primarily invests in corporate bonds across the region with different maturities in various hard currencies.
