Vanguard appoints ESG head for UK and Europe

Asset manager Vanguard has appointed Fong Yee Chan as the firm’s first head of ESG strategy for UK and Europe.

Chan joins from index provider FTSE Russell where she was head of sustainable investment products.

Prior to that she was ESG director at eFront, the technology provider for the private equity industry. Chan also sits on the board of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association.

Based in London, Chan will report to Matthew Piro, head of Vanguard’s portfolio review department in Europe.

Vanguard’s head of Europe, Sean Hagerty, said the appointment comes at a time when the ESG market is “evolving rapidly with new regulation, an increasing number of investment offerings and different perspectives on the best way to approach ESG”.
