London-headquartered Tabula Investment Management has entered the Italian ETF market following the listing of its European investment grade bond strategy on Borsa Italiana.
The firm said Italy’s “dynamic” ETF market offers strong opportunities for ETF providers, especially in the fixed income field.
Assets under management in the Italian ETF sector stood at €90 billion at the end of the second quarter – a 12-month increase of over 18%. Tabula highlighted that nearly half of this AuM is invested in fixed income ETFs, significantly more than the European average of around 30%.
Through the Tabula iTraxx IG Bond Ucits ETF, the provider is offering Italian investors exposure to euro-denominated investment grade bonds.
The ETF is based on the iTraxx Europe benchmark index, which reflects the 125 “most liquid” European investment grade credit default swaps.
Tabula chief executive Michael John Lytle said: “With almost half of Italian-listed ETF AuM in the fixed income asset class, Italian investors have shown themselves to be leaders in passive fixed income investing.”
