State Street hires Nordic ETF head

State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has hired Marcus Miholich for a newly created role as head of its ETF brand, SPDR, in the Nordic countries.

Miholich joins from Haitong Securities in London where he was head of delta one, ETF and cash equity trading.

At State Street he will be responsible for evaluating the investment objectives of Nordic clients and positioning SPDR ETF products and services, the firm says.

He will report to Rory Tobin, chairman of SSGA and a regional global co-head of SPDR ETFs.

Tobin said ETFs were becoming more popular in the Nordic region.

“We are seeing increasing demand for ETFs from clients in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, who are attracted to the cost-effective and transparent nature of ETFs, as well as the ability to access liquidity in real time,” Tobin said.
