State Street appoints ‘chief architect’ for digital transformation

Global asset servicer State Street has appointed Aman Thind to the role of global chief architect.

The appointment is part of a push into the digital assets space and Thind has been promoted from the role of chief technology officer (CTO) of State Street’s electronic trading platform GlobalLink.

Reporting to chief information officer Brian Franz, Thind will be charged with leading the company’s technology transformation projects and developing its digital, crypto and innovation strategies.

Prior to joining State Street, Thind was the co-founder and CTO of fintech startup BestX, which was acquired by State Street in 2018. He has also worked for tech firm Adobe in the past as well as several Wall Street firms.

Like other asset servicers, State Street is looking to move into the digital assets space. Earlier in April, it was appointed as the fund administrator for a planned bitcoin-backed exchange traded note from German digital asset manager Iconic Funds.

And in March State Street was appointed as the fund administrator and transfer agent for the VanEck Bitcoin Trust, a US-based crypto ETF that is awaiting approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission.
