Securities lending revenues up over one year

Investors involved in securities lending programmes have seen an average 20% year-on-year increase in revenue globally.

According to market data firm DataLend, revenue stood at $690 million in April this year, compared to $574 million in April 2020.

European equity revenue was up 23% year over year and global equities saw an increase of 19% year over year. 

In the fixed income market, global revenue generated from government debt increased 25%, while corporate debt increased 28% over 2020.

The top five earners in April 2021 were Blink Charging, Volvo AB Class B, Social Cap Hedosophia Holdings, Futu Holdings, and iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF. The five securities in total generated over $38 million in revenue in the month.
