Sandro Pierri lands BNP Paribas AM’s deputy CEO role

Sandro Pierri, a former chief executive of Pioneer Investments which was acquired by Amundi in 2017, has become the deputy chief executive of BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM).

The role is newly created and Pierri already worked at BNPP AM as head of global client group, a position he took in 2017 when he joined the firm.

He keeps the global client position alongside the new role.

Based in London, Pierri reports to Frédéric Janbon, chief executive of BNPP AM.

Earlier in his 30-year career, Pierri was chief executive of ING Group’s Italian retail business between 2002 and 2003.

Following the acquisition by UniCredit/Pioneer of ING’s Italian business, he joined Pioneer Investments, UniCredit’s asset management division, in 2004.  He spent ten years in various commercial and managerial positions, becoming CEO in 2012.

Janbon said: “Sandro has transformed our global client group into an efficient sales platform for BNPP AM. In expanding his responsibilities, Sandro will bring his invaluable expertise to additional transversal projects.  This appointment reflects the breadth of his contribution to our company and his commitment to developing our culture and values for the benefit of our clients.”
