RPMI Railpen strengthens property team

RPMI Railpen, which manages more than £25 billion (€28.8 billion) of pension assets on behalf of current and former UK rail employees, has appointed Matthew Howard to a new role as head of property asset management.

Howard will be responsible for the execution of Railpen’s asset management strategy and delivering asset enhancement initiatives to Railpen’s property portfolio.

Previously head of asset management at Market Tech Holdings and head of retail asset management at CBRE Capital Advisors, Howard has 20 years’ industry experience in the UK market.

At Market Tech Holdings he led a team responsible for the strategic asset management of the firm’s real estate portfolio of retail, leisure, office and residential assets in Camden, London, with an approximate value of £1 billion.

Railpen’s head of property Anna Rule said that Howard’s experience would “fit perfectly with our desire to deliver long-term sustainable returns for the benefit of our members.”
