Railpen upgrades data management capabilities

Railpen, the investment manager of the UK’s Railways Pension Scheme, is upgrading its data management capabilities following a partnership with software provider Matrix IDM.

Matrix’s Software as a Service (SaaS) will provide the pension manager with automated “full enterprise data functionality”, according to the fintech.

Matrix chief executive Neil Lotter, said the service will “significantly reduce the time and effort currently spent ingesting, organising and validating the data required by downstream risk and trading systems”.

A spokesperson for Railpen – Matrix’s first client in the UK – highlighted that the SaaS product is strategically aligned with its IT infrastructure, which is based on Microsoft’s Azure DevOps – a SaaS platform for developing and deploying software.

“Matrix provides complex data on-boarding capabilities with simplified point in time mastering solutions. This delivers a reduced management burden and ongoing cost of ownership,” Railpen’s spokesperson said. These were key components in the “stringent” selection criteria, they added.
