US fund manager PineBridge Investments has appointed Mick Sweeney to the newly-created role of chief executive officer in Ireland.
Based in Dublin, Sweeney will report to Klaus Schuster, the firm’s head of Europe. PineBridge’s Irish subsidiary is its Ucits management company and alternative investment fund manager. It is now licensed with additional MiFID permissions.
Working with Schuster, Sweeney’s responsibilities will include creating new business and developing relationships with Irish-based clients, as well as assuming general management and supervising daily operations.
Sweeney comes with over 31 years’ experience in financial services. Most recently he was chief executive of Bank of Ireland Wealth Management, as well as interim chief executive officer of the group’s pension and life assurance cover in Ireland.
PineBridge has a “strong and long-standing presence in Ireland” having begun operations there in 1989, according to Schuster.
“The license approval, together with this appointment, ensures the firm is able to continue to support its European clients and prospects as we continue to grow in the region,” Schuster said.
