Pictet targets emerging markets with multi-asset fund launch

Swiss asset manager Pictet Asset Management (AM) has launched a multi-asset fund focused on emerging markets.

The Pictet Emerging Markets Multi-Asset Fund will be domiciled in Luxmebourg and will trade equities, sovereign bonds, credit, commodities, real estate, money markets and currencies in a number of developing markets.

The Ucits fund will not be exclusively focused on emerging markets and will invest in developed market bonds and currencies to protect capital during times of market stress.

“We believe, in the long-term, emerging markets offer the best value for investors,” Olivier Ginguené, chief investment officer, multi asset and quantitative investment at Pictet AM.

“However, emerging markets can be subject to higher levels of volatility, making asset allocation decisions difficult for investors,” he added.

The fund has so far raised just over $50 million from investors.
