OMGI hires head of responsible investment and stewardship

Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI) has appointed Freddie Woolfe as head of responsible investment and stewardship.

Woolfe replaces Paul Emerton, who left OMGI to pursue an alternative career path. He reports to the head of UK equities, Richard Buxton.

Woolfe, who will be responsible for overseeing a global voting programme for OMGI, joined from Newton Investment Management where he was responsible investment analyst primarily covering the healthcare and technology, media and telecommunications sectors.

Richard Buxton said it was important for the firms in which OMGI invested to have transparent and robust corporate governance practices in place and that their clients also demanded strong oversight of companies’ policies towards environmental and social issues, including diversity.

OMGI has £39.8 billion (€44.6 billion) in assets under management.
