Netherlands-based NN Investment Partners (NN IP) has launched an emerging market debt (EMD) fund, targeted at investors looking for stable, long-term income with low credit risk.
The NN (L) EMD Short-Duration Hard Currency Fund invests in debt instruments denominated in US dollars by emerging market sovereign and corporate issuers and has an average duration of between one to three years.
The fund will be managed by Annemieke Coldeweijer, portfolio manager for EMD corporate debt based in The Hague, and Jared Lou, portfolio manager for EMD hard currency based in New York.
The new product forms part of a range of EMD funds offered by NN IP, which has managed dedicated EMD funds since 1993.
The firm’s 20-people-strong global EMD team currently has over US$10 billion (€8 billion) in assets under management.
Marcelo Assalin, head of EMD at NN IP, said: “Monetary policies in developed markets are expected to gradually tighten and potentially impact returns of fixed income assets.
“Investors who are willing to mitigate such a risk factor will appreciate the fund’s strategy of providing stable income, with low volatility and low credit risk.”
