Mondrian Investment Partners, a value investor based in London, has launched a green bond fund.
The Mondrian Global Green Bond Fund, which is Ucits-compliant, will invest sovereign and corporate bonds.
The firm, which has US$59 billion of assets under management, defines green bonds as any type of bond instrument where the proceeds will be applied to finance or refinance projects that the investment manager believes are beneficial to the environment, including climate change mitigation and adaption, natural resource and biodiversity conservation and pollution prevention and control.
Sarah Mitchell (pictured) and David Cudmore manage the fund and in normal market conditions at least 75% of the fund’s net asset value will be invested in green bonds.
Mondriam’s fund has a value focus based on the firm’s analysis of prospective real yields and it is based on a global bond strategy launched in 1991.
