UK fund manager M&G Investments has debuted an equity impact fund focused on issues posed by climate change.
The M&G Climate Solutions fund is a follow up to the firm’s Positive Impact strategy, which was launched in 2018 and has £306 million (€342 million) in assets under management.
The climate change fund will follow the same investment approach and process but will focus on three more targeted impact areas – clean energy, green technology and promotion of the circular company.
M&G will also provide an annual report on the 30 or so companies within the portfolio, charting their respective climate impact and revenue alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals framework.
The fund will be managed by Randeep Somel who was previously managing the Positive Impact fund. John William Olsen will continue managing the Positive Impact fund and is now deputy on the Climate Solutions fund.
“The green agenda and the need to provide solutions to the challenge of climate change has unlocked the creativity and ingenuity of many companies who have these solutions at the heart of what they do,” said Somel.
