Liontrust hires sales director to meet Iberian demand

London-based boutique manager Liontrust has recruited Gonzalo Thomé for the newly-created role of international sales director.

The appointment comes in response to growing demand for the firm’s range of Dublin Ucits funds across Spain, Portugal, and Andorra.

Based in Madrid, Thomé’s responsibilities will include providing greater local support to fund buyers in the Iberian region.

Prior to joining Liontrust, Thomé was deputy sales director and senior fund analyst at Banco Inversis in the Spanish capital. Before that he was a fund of funds manager at Banco Sabadell.

James Beddall, head of international sales, called Thomé a key addition to the firm’s distribution team.

He said: “He enhances our distribution across Europe as we now have a six-strong sales team with a presence in most of the major markets.”

Thomé added: “There is great potential to increase distribution in Iberia with the well regarded global fixed income team, growing demand for sustainable investment and the diverse range of equity funds.”
