Jupiter expands new EM business with bond fund launch

Jupiter Asset Management’s recently created emerging markets debt business has seen its second fund launch.

The Jupiter Global Emerging Markets Short Duration Bond Fund is managed by Alejandro Arevalo, who joined the company in 2016.

Jupiter said the fund – which is a sub-fund of the Jupiter Global Fund Sicav – would lower risks connected with central bank interest rates as they normalise and benefit from the improving fundamentals of emerging markets.

It invests in sovereigns, corporates and local currencies to gain direct or indirect exposure to emerging market economies. The fund targets bonds with durations under three years.

Arevalo is supported by Nachu Chockalingam and Reza Karim who joined the company earlier this year as emerging market debt analysts.

Jupiter opened an emerging market debt business in March when it launched the Jupiter Global Emerging Markets Corporate Bond Fund.
