Funds Europe is launching a series of awards that will showcase excellence in fund technology (‘fundtech’) and service innovation.
Hosted in partnership with Sionic, the global financial services consultancy, the FundTech Awards 2020 will happen for the first time this autumn and is open to innovators, suppliers and project leaders who are advancing the role of tech in the funds industry.
To qualify, entrants must be based in Europe or provide solutions into the European market.
FundTech Awards 2020 is an extension of the Funds Europe Annual Awards, which have been running for 15 years and were staged last year at the Tower of London.
Funds Europe launched its FundTech events and publications three years ago to monitor the digital transformation within the industry.
Sionic brings the expertise of an independent partner to the awards.
The awards will be grouped into four categories:
- Product design
- Development and innovation
- Project outcomes
- Outstanding individual contributions
The awards will spotlight pacesetters across the investment process, including front/middle/back office, client service, platforms and distribution.
The awards will also recognise best practice in project implementation and collaboration within the European investment funds sector.
Alan Chalmers, publisher of Funds Europe, said: “We see more and more emphasis on technology in the funds industry and this has moved to centre stage in recent months. We responded to this with the launch of ‘FundTech’ events and publications and are now splitting off technology from the main Funds Europe awards to give greater emphasis to the tech area. This will profile best-of-breed, innovation, successful outcomes and provide recognition for the key people driving the industry.”
Jonathon Hammond, partner at Sionic, added: “These new awards are about showcasing and celebrating innovation, contribution and value. At Sionic, we work closely with a wide range of international clients and we believe it is essential to recognise the people and achievements both in leadership and behind the scenes: the vendor improvements, implementations, and best-in-class software that are fundamental to a resilient, innovative sector.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Funds Europe as a respected industry leader to do this. I’m even looking forward to the challenging task of judging the entries!”
The awards will be decided by a panel of senior-level industry professionals. We are launching the awards on 4th May 2020, with a closing date of 3rd July 2020. Full details are available on FundTech Awards pages.
