article 8, ETFFranklin Templeton has launched an emerging markets ETF, designated Article 8 under SFDR.

Designed for European investors, the Franklin MSCI Emerging Markets Paris Aligned Climate Ucits ETF will track the MSCI Emerging Markets Climate Paris Aligned Index.

This will include large and mid-cap stocks across 24 emerging markets transitioning to a low-carbon economy.

The Article 8-aligned fund is the fourth in the New York-based firm’s climate ETF range.

The fund will list on the Deutsche Börse Xetra on 10th March, ticker FVEM, Borsa Italiana, ticker FREP and the London Stock Exchange on 14th March.

The London listing includes two denominations and tickers – Pound Sterling (EMPR) and US Dollar (PABE).

It will be registered in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the UK.

The ETF has an expense ratio of 0.18% and will be managed by Dina Ting, head of global index portfolio management, and Lorenzo Crosato, ETF portfolio manager.

Rafaelle Lennox, head of UCITS ETF product strategy, said: “With this ETF tracking the MSCI Emerging Market Climate Paris Aligned Index, our investors will be able to align their core Emerging Market equity holdings to the Paris Climate Agreement, and thus reduce their exposure to climate change risks as well as capture opportunities related to low carbon transition.

Last month, fellow US giant Morgan Stanley touted an entry to the European ETF market.
