DWS’ Pflaum joins Germany’s sustainable finance advisory council

The chief investment officer for responsible investment at DWS, Petra Pflaum, has become a member of the German government’s Sustainable Financial Advisory Council.

Pflaum’s appointment to the council, which was set up last year in response to the climate crisis, was requested by the German Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy.

Members of the council include representatives from Germany’s financial sector, the real economy, civil society and science.

The group advises the German government on how to strengthen sustainable finance in the country by pooling existing resources.

Pflaum said: “Our declared and common goal is to elevate Germany into a leading sustainable finance location. The current pandemic in particular reinforces the need to further promote and strengthen our economy in a responsible and sustainable manner.”

She will also continue her role of chief investment officer at DWS, headquartered in Germany, as well as working alongside advisory council members to drive change for a more sustainable future.
