DWS creates global sustainability officer role

DWS has hired Desiree Fixler as global sustainability officer based in London. The firm described the role as a “milestone” for its ESG development.

Fixler joins from US alternatives specialist Zais and a key responsibility at DWS is to link all teams globally in working on sustainability.

She reports to chief executive Asoka Woehrmann, who said the appointment marked a “huge step” for DWS in creating a “holistic approach” to ESG investing.

Fixler’s proven ability to develop ESG risk management, policy and reporting frameworks helped make her a good fit for DWS, Woehrmann added.

At Zais, Fixler served as portfolio manager and managing director for impact investing. She has also previously held senior positions at JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch.
